‘Mihila’ is the Hirdaramani Group’s first custom built, eco-friendly apparel factory and a LEED™ Gold certified building. The factory focuses on three key areas; energy consumption, water consumption and waste management. They wanted to take it one step further by becoming CarbonNeutral®.
Assessed the factory’s Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, and developed and monitored its footprint mitigation solutions.
After reaching the mitigation threshold limit, the factory invested in a renewable energy project in the Kandy & Ratnapura area in Sri Lanka through the purchase of registered carbon credits to offset their footprint.
The factory was certified as Asia’s first CarbonNeutral® apparel factory and has maintained its status for the past 5 years.
The factory remains the jewel in the Hirdaramani Group’s portfolio and continues to lead the way in energy and water efficiency, bio diversity protection and manpower productivity.
"Sustainability is an inherent element in our culture. It informs every choice we make as a business & manufacturer. Working with industry professionals such as CCC has enabled us to take this commitment to greater heights and we are very proud of our achievements."
